doc. JUDr. Ján Drgonec, DrSc. After completing his studies at the Faculty of Law in Bratislava (1976) until the end of 1992 he was an internal scientific aspirant, later scientist at the Institute of State and Law of the Slovak Academy of Science in Bratislava. Later he gave lectures as a visiting professor at the Texas University in Austin for one semester. He gave lectures for a period of three years at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava, later at the Faculty of Law of the Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica. Since 2008 he gives lectures at the Faculty of Law of the Paneuropean University in Bratislava. Aditionally to his academic activity, he is an attorney at law.

Scientific and pedagogic activity is connected with publishing activity, which in the authors case currently includes sixteen works published in books and some 170 studies and articles published in academic legal periodicals. The most frequent and also favorite topics he deals with are topics of Constitutional Law. In the field of Medicine Law he published a separate monograph Constitutional Law and Healthcare (Archa, 1996). As a co-author with Pavol Hollander he published a book Modern Medicine and Law (Obzor 1982; second edition Obzor 1988). Publishing activities in the field of health law also include more than forty articles not only in academic periodicals published in Slovakia, but also in France, South Africa, Hungary, Switzerland and Wales. He presented his works at the 8. World Congress of Health Law (1988), 9. World Congress of Health Law (1988) and 11. World Congress of Health Law (1988). He lead a group of experts that prepared the draft of the statute on healthcare for the Ministry of Healthcare, which passed in the Slovak Parliament as statute no. 277/1994 coll.

In years 1993-2000 he was a judge of the first Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic. After his term in office expired he became a member of the first Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic (2002 – 2007). In the parliament term of 2002 – 2006 he was a member of the parliament and chairman of its Constitutional and Legal Committee.
